How to Find Credible Sources
Overview: What problem does this course solve?
Whether it's for school, work, or fun, when conducting research on the Internet, many fail to consider the quality of the sources. This course teaches learners how to use the CRAAP (currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, purpose) test to evaluate their sources.
The Design: A Tab Interaction & Quiz With Authentic Scenarios
The five criteria are explained with a tab interaction, ensuring that learners can digest them one at a time and not feel overwhelmed. When they are ready, learners take a quiz containing five realistic scenarios of Internet research. They will identify the problem(s) with the source in each scenario. Before starting the development stage, I first wrote the storyboard to work out all the details of the course.
The Development: Articulate Storyline
The course was developed in Articulate Storyline using states and triggers to allow learners to keep track of the criteria they have visited before moving on to the quiz. Using different layers, the quiz provides feedbacks to the learners' choices. Finally, using variables, the learners' performance is tracked. They are then given the option to review the guidelines and questions.
